Gov Mutfwang Lauds Military For Restoring Plateau As Tourism Destination
The Governor of Plateau State in northcentral Nigeria, Barr Caleb Mutfwang has praised the Nigerian Army for restoring peace in the State, making it possible for visitors to renew their belief in the slogan of Peace and Tourism, a mantra Plateau is known for.
The Governor said there was a time insecurity that ravaged the state, making it impossible for investors and fun seekers to visit but noting that the tireless efforts of the military under his government have restored confidence and hope.
Mutfwang was speaking on Friday, during the annual 3 Division Nigerian Army West African Social Activities (WASA), held at the Rukuba Barracks near Jos.
Represented by the Commissioner of Plateau State, Hon. Joyce Ramnap, the Governor, reassured the military that his government would continue to provide the necessary support to curb insecurity.
“The prevailing peace and stability we enjoy today are products of the tireless sacrifices and unwavering commitment of our security agencies, working in synergy with the Plateau State Government to sustain peace in our cherished state, renowned for its natural beauty and tourism potential.
I wish to reassure you that our government will continue to provide the necessary support to the military and other security agencies in our collective quest to preserve and deepen this peace.
”There was a time in our recent history when insecurity arising from ethno-religious tensions and farmer-herder conflicts discouraged visitors from coming to Plateau State. Today, however, the narrative has changed. Visitors now find it difficult to leave, drawn by the peace, warmth, and hospitality that define our communities.
I sincerely commend our security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army, for your resilience, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property. Your sacrifices have been instrumental in restoring confidence and stability in our state.
“I urge all stakeholders to continue supporting the government’s efforts to sustain this peaceful environment. I also wish to express my profound appreciation to the Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W Shaibu, for their consistent support through the deployment of troops, equipment, and other critical resources to Plateau State”, Mutfwang said.
