Gov Emmanuel’s re-election more important than my ambition- Speaker

The Speaker of Akwa Ibom state House of assembly, Hon Onofiok Luke, has said the aspiration to ensure that Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, is returned to power in 2019, supersedes his personal ambition.

The Speaker said this in Uyo, while speaking as guest in the correspondent’s platform, “The arena” yesterday.

Hon. Luke who is standard bearer of the House of Representatives for the Etinan federal constituency under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said he would have dropped his ambition but for the pressure from his constituents.

“The governor’s re-election is more important to me than my own ambition, but for the sake of my constituents who keep coming to me to put pressure I would have been the campaign manager of the divine mandate Organisation”, said Hon. Luke.

He said the superlative performance of the Governor Udom Emmanuel in the last three years cutting across all sector of the economy would guarantee victory for him in the forthcoming elections.

The Speaker pointed out that there was no single industries in the state until the coming of Governor Udom administration adding that Akwa Ibom‘s economy would have been better if previous administration had thought of establishing one industries in the state.

“It was until Udom came that we started having Syringe factory, the Coconut Refinery, the Pencil manufacturing company, and many others,” Luke said.

The speaker assured that the party was working assiduously to ensure that the Governor is re-elected in 2019.

On the state security Trust Fund, meant to provide security logistics, Hon. Luke said it has not been presented to the state house of Assembly.
