Gov. Bala tasks public officials on attitudinal change

Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed has tasked public officers in the state to embrace attitudinal change in the conduct and management of government businesses to enable the state reclaim its lost glory and assume its rightful place among the best performing states in Nigeria.

The governor, who noted that the civil service is the engine room of policy generation, articulation and execution, challenged civil servants to provide purposeful leadership in the conduct of governance.
He spoke while presenting a paper at the just concluded two-day retreat for top government functionaries at the Bauchi state University, Gadau.

Bala said that the state has in the past six months shown that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led administration is on course to provide the much needed dividends of democracy to its citizenry.
“Whatever position one holds, it is a public trust. Do not abuse it. Do not mistake career elevation to wealth accumulation by foul and dubious means.
“”Do not abuse financial instructions. Do not take your eyes away from supervision, monitoring and evaluation. You should always insist that basic engineering management and evaluation apply. “Always insist on due diligence in the award of government contracts. Seek additional knowledge and update you professional skills in order to be relevant,” he added.
The governor urged key players in the education and health sectors to provide him with necessary working documents with timelines for summits on the two sectors within the first quarter of this year.
Speaking on his election victory at the country’s apex court, the governor said the victory has now renewed his pledge and promise to rededicate himself to the service of the state and the people who voted him into power.
