Gov Ahmed Leads Ajibola in Kwara

Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raced past the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) governorship candidate, Sen Simeon Ajibola, according to the results of Saturday’s polls, so far announced.

The Returning Officer of the Kwara Governorship Election, Professor Musbau Akanji, said that Ahmed had garnered a total of 262,248 while his PDP counterpart scored 102, 911 votes from 14 of the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) results announced.

Ahmed was leading Ajibola with a margin of 159, 337 votes, while the results from Baruteen and Kaima LGAs were still being awaited, as of  the time of filing this report.

Our correspondent reports that Ahmed, who’s seeking re-election, was leading in all the14 LGAs results so far announced and scored over 25 percent of the votes to meet the required two-third number of the total votes of LGAs in

the state.
