Gombe gov tasks new LG chairs on new ideas of devt

As agents of change at the grassroots, the newly elected chairmen are expected to evolve constructive ideas for the development and transformation of their Local Government Areas as most of them have previously served as Chairmen Caretaker Committees of their councils in the state.

The State Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo who sworn-in the newly elected chairmen in Gombe therefore implored them to use their wealth of experience to move the local Government forward and provide dividends of democracy to the people.

“In line with our commitment towards the provision of infrastructural facilities, the elected chairmen are advised to maintain the tempo exhibited by their predecessors in the execution of projects, especially joint capital projects, in order to improve the living standards of our citizens, similarly, they should make efforts to improve on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) by plugging all loop-holes as well as identifying new revenue sources which will reduce over-dependence on Statutory Grants from the Federation Account”, he said.

The Governor commended the out-gone Caretaker Committee Chairmen for their positive contributions they made during their tenure and their efforts made in mobilizing the citizens who participated in the election in which their great party the PDP emerged victorious and commended also the Royal fathers, Religious leaders and security agencies for ensuring that the elections were conducted peacefully throughout the state.

He urged them to extend genuine hands of reconciliation to all those who contested and lost in the elections regardless of party affiliations and it is by so doing that they shall collectively contributed their quota to the development of the state.

According to him, the new elected chairmen are Adamu Jani Bello of Akko, Sur. Bakari T. Keletuma of Balanga, Bar. Faruk D Lawining of Billiri, Abdulkadir Y. Rasheed of Dukku, Yusuf Ibrahim of Funakaye, Sani Hassan S. Dogari of Gombe, Abubakar Danzaria of Kaltungo, Ya’u Hassan Marafa of Kwami, Hamza Dadum of Nafada, Danladi Haruna Garba of Shongom and Haruna Moh’d Samanja of Yamantu/ Deba respectively.
