Glo Expands Spectrum Nationwide, Lifts Data Speeds, Ends Network Congestion
Globacom has executed major upgrades across its national network following new spectrum acquisitions and expanded data resources, a move the company says will deliver faster internet speeds, wider coverage and congestion-free service for subscribers nationwide.
The enhancements, activated on Thursday, 4 December 2025, form part of Glo’s long-term plan to build a future-ready communications backbone capable of supporting Nigeria’s rapidly growing digital economy.
The company stated that the newly acquired spectrum capacity has significantly enhanced its nationwide broadband performance, enabling the network to handle higher data volumes with improved speed and stability.
The expanded resources will support faster downloads, enhanced uploads, smoother video streaming and clearer voice calls even during peak traffic hours.
A company representative said the ongoing investments represent a nationwide transformation rather than isolated upgrades, noting that subscribers will experience stronger coverage, higher speeds and more consistent quality wherever they live, work or travel.
Glo has also strengthened its fibre-optic backbone along critical national routes to support the surge in network capacity. By upgrading long-haul and metro fibre links, along with enhanced backhaul systems and core network optimisation, the company said it is eliminating congestion and improving overall reliability for millions of users.
In line with its operational sustainability goals, the operator is deploying hybrid battery power systems across many sites, reducing diesel dependence while improving network uptime and long-term cost efficiency.
With broader spectrum capacity, stronger fibre infrastructure, expanded coverage and faster speeds, Globacom said the latest upgrades mark the beginning of a more advanced and uninterrupted digital experience for subscribers nationwide.
