Get-rich-quick syndrome focus of Glo’s Professor Johnbull this week

What should be the attitude of the public to those who suddenly become wealthy without any visible means of livelihood? Is all that glitters really gold? How best should parents react to their children who become wealthy overnight?

These are some of the questions thrown up in this week’s episode of Professor Johnbull as the Globacom-sponsored TV drama series examines the get-rich-quick syndrome in the society.

The new episode of the sitcom which goes on air on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes at 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday, is entitled “My Pikin Don Hammer”, and it stresses the need for parents to query the source of wealth of their wards before celebrating them.

The Executive Producer of the Series, directed by Tchidi Chikere, said, “we are of the firm belief that society will be better if parents and guardians alike take time to interrogate the source of wealth of their children and wards to serve as moral guide to the young ones”.

“The prevailing insecurity in the society today and the legion of criminal acts and venal practices common in our society is a result of the tendency of the people to get rich by all means possible.

When a society fails to inculcate moral values in its people, the result can be catastrophic and we are convinced that if the society interrogates the lifestyles of its people, it will be better off. “My Pikin Don Hammer” is a call to action and we are confident that the viewing public will learn some lessons from it,” the statement added.

To add further excitement to the programme, Na Who I Go Ask singer, Omawumi Megbele, will make a cameo appearance in the episode.

Like other episodes before it, “My Pikin Don Hammer” parades the conscience of the sitcom, Professor Johnbull (Kanayo O. Kanayo) and other regulars such as Elizabeth (Queen Nwokoye), Jumoke (Bidemi Kosoko), Churchill (Jnr. Pope Odonwodo), Flash (Stephen Odimgbe), Olaniyi (Yomi Fash-Lanso), Caro (Mercy Johnson Okojie), Ufoma (Bimbo Akintola) and Abadnego (Martins Nebo).

There will be a repeat broadcast of the episode at 8.30 p.m. on Friday on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes.
