In a bid to give voice to the voiceless, DKARTS Castle Gallery is set to organised an art show, tagged, “Conversations that Clash: Rape Culture” on the 28th of Match 2021.

This was disclosed by the CEO of DKARTS Castle Gallery, Kayode Ajibose, adding that “the aim and objectives of these events ‘Conversations that Clash’ is to shed more light to these issues that people shy away from and do not want to talk about.

Issues that usually shift the blame to the victims instead of the perpetrator. Also to give voice to the voiceless and stand behind them and possibly bring change.”

According to the President of Africa Students Association and a Life Style Influencer in United State of America(USA) , Anih Thelma Magritha, who is also a partner on this project said “What inspired Rape culture is that people do not know what rape is. It’s is always tagged as the girl child problem but it is a societal problem.

The girl child is a victim so it’s not just their problem. Why this is the issue of interest is that there have been a lot of news on this issue but because it is completely normalised and the victims tend to be blamed, they do it and get away with it.”

Thelma also explained that what also sparks this conversation, is that people often misunderstand consensual sex and rape.

“Another reason is that people in places of power like law enforcement, religious leaders and even family members have concluded that they can do it and get away with it. We need people to be angry enough to educate themselves.

Be angry enough to incite change. It is a culture that has been woven into the very fabric of our society and normalised and we need to change that. The show will take place on Sunday 28th match 2021.”

Speaking earlier, Ajibose said that “we expect our audience to be surprised because we are not just bringing up these issues we are integrating the art of poetry, music and visual arts into it, which will be spontaneous, virtual and aired live, we have art studios, galleries and artists both home and abroad partnering on this project, we’re also partnering with TABERNACLE OF TALENTS which is an NGO involved in talent discovery in children and teenagers, as we know victims usually are in this age category.”

“We are willing to push this project as long as we can. It doesn’t die out with us and hopefully it is a legacy we leave for the next generation to push it and take on the challenge,” she said.
