Ganduje seeks consolidation of national integration

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has advocated the need to find a way to consolidate national integration and how States can help others survive.

The Kano State Governor who disclosed he was in Abia state for a royal honour to be conferred on him by the chairman, Southeast Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Eberechi Dick said the title is a way of consolidating the national integration the country is seeking for.

He said the honour would further consolidate national integration that Nigerians yearn for and called on all to understand their differences and accept each other as the only way to build a united Nigeria.

Governor Ganduje said Nigerians by now ought to understand each others’ differences and take advantage of their diversity so that the country can become stronger.

Also speaking the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria and the Sarkin Kano, Lamido Sanusi Lamido said he has longed for the visit for a while.

He described Kano as a cosmopolitan society that prides itself in her ability to welcome and accommodate everyone, and emphasized on the need to accept each other’s differences and thanked Abia state government for efforts at building a better Abia.

“Every country that wants to progress must accommodate all”, he said, and expressed happiness that the two Governors of APC and PDP are working towards national interest in what seems a handshake across ethnic divide.

The Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu assured that Abia would collaborate with Kano state on Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Development in the state.

He said Abia would leverage on cotton and the ternaries in Kano to improve the leather, shoes and bags industry in Abia, noting that every state needs each other to survive.

“For me, every part of Nigeria needs each other and this is the kind of synergy we need”, he said, adding that he has opened talks with the Bank of Industry to see how best to source the materials.

Dr Ikpeazu said he will explore ways of making bulk purchase of leather from Kano to drive the shoe factories in Aba and disclosed that the Commissioner for Trade and Investments will soon be visiting Kano state with Aba leather manufacturers.

The Abia Governor further stressed the need for every ethnic nationality in the country to respect each other’s differences and learn how to leverage the things they share in common for the sake of posterity.
