Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has presented a sum of N233, 828,850,598 for the 2018 fiscal years. Presenting the proposed budget before the state House of Assembly yesterday governor Ganduje said the sum of N151, 902,238, 95 is earmarked for capital expenditure while N81, 926,412,503 is allocated for recurrent expenditure.
Tagged budget of reality, Ganduje posited that the proposed 2018 appropriation would be financed through a total recurrent revenue proposed for the year 2018 estimated at N147,657,319,982 which consist of N53,777,623,108 as internally generated revenue (IGR) and Revenue from the federation account put at the sum of N93,879,696,874.
The total recurrent of 2018 is higher than that of 2017 by N732, 263, 56. The projected IGR for 2018 is also higher compare to that of 2017 by N4, 542,671.77, representing 9.2 percent.
Ganduje explained that “the proposed capital expenditure which stood at N151,902,438.95, which is higher than that of 2017 by N13,427,218,519 will be financed by N65,730,907,479 expected recurrent revenue surplus and total capital receipt of N86,171,503,616 while capital receipt is made up of N28,947,500,000 as expected international and external loan”.
He said that N27, 535,583,958 is an estimated grants while N27, 334,328,440 is expected as miscellaneous and treasury balance of N353, 119.
On the sectoral allocation, the Ministry of works and housing took the lion share of over N40billion, water resources N35billion, education N21 billion and agriculture and natural resource has N10.4 billion.
Also ministry of health has N9.7billion, Bureau of land and management N8.4 billion, State Civil service and general administration N4.billion and environment N3 billion.
Others are Judiciary N1.9billion, special duties N1.58billion, Information and Youths N1.4 billion, Women and social development N1.1billion, Commercial and Manufacturing N965 million and security N200 million.
Ganduje said all the inherited projects from the previous administration had already been captured for completion in the appropriation while the newly initiated are also are on course.
Responding, the speaker of the Kano state house of Assembly assured Governor Ganduje that the budget is in the safe hand and would be given speedy passage which would be subjected to public input.
