Galaxy Backbone, NITDA agree to deepen national IT penetration

Collaboration and Inter Agency synergy between NITDA and Galaxy Backbone have been identified as key to deepen national IT penetration in Nigeria.

This was made known when Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, Director General National Information Technology Development Agency, (NITDA) played host to Arc. Yusuf Kazaure, Managing Director/CEO Galaxy Backbone LTD and his management team at the Agency’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, recently.

The visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the two agencies and to build alliance for the deployment of IT across the country.

Pantami pledged the Agency’s support to collaboration, saying that “we cannot do it alone, we need each other to succeed, what is important is not personal credit but interest of the nation”.

He added that there is need to ride on each other’s strength, in that NITDA is a regulator and the clearing house for all IT projects in Nigeria, Galaxy Backbone is an operator and service provider to Government.

Earlier, Arc Kazaure appreciated NITDA for the active role played in the birth of Galaxy, and solicited for the Agency’s support to restrain Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) from building data centres they cannot maintain.

“Galaxy has a data centre that has never been offline since the year 2006, the Infrastructure was built to serve as a shared platform for all MDA’s in Nigeria,” he said.

Kazaure urged NITDA to pay a working visit to Galaxy Backbone for tour of facilities.
