GAC Auto unveils flagship GS4 Nigerian assembled cars

Leading Chinese automobile manufacturer, GAC Motors has unveiled its hi-tech GS4 auto series at an elaborate event which took place at Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The launch which took place recently, has repositioned the company impact in Nigeria’s automobile market and further strengthened its foray in Africa, via the Nigerian automobile market.
The launch reinforced Nigeria’s crucial position at building the company’s creativities as well as service network in Africa, the country having become a formidable member of the GAC Motors global production network, consisting of 14 countries globally.
The GAC motors is partnering with Miss Nigeria organisation and has sustained a robust support for Nigeria’s creative industry, which explains the sound representation of the Nigerian creative industry at the GS4 launch in Lagos.
The GS4 model becomes the first GAC-branded vehicles to be assembled in Nigeria since the auto firm ventured into the Nigerian market in 2013. Rather than importing directly from its plant in China, GAC Motor partnered with the SKD Project to build a plant where the vehicles were assembled locally. The SKD Project was introduced in Nigeria this year through CIG Motors, the sole distributor of GAC Motor in Nigeria.
The two-part event included a press briefing and the official unveiling. It was graced by several dignitaries including the Minister of Information & Culture Lai Mohammed, the Oludo of Ido, Oba Adeen Adedapo Aderemi, the Chinese Consul General Chao Xiaoliang, Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka, the General Manager of GAC Motor Yu Jun, Chairman of CIG Motors Chief Diana Chan, Founder of Nike Art Gallery Nike Davies-Okundaye as well as Nollywood stars Stephanie Linus and Kate Henshaw.
GAC Motor is a subsidiary company of GAC Group that commits to developing and manufacturing world-class quality vehicles, engines, components and auto accessories.
The company ranks top eight among all brands in J.D. Power Asia Pacific’s 2015 China Initial Quality Study, and has sustained status as the highest of all Chinese brands for the third consecutive year.
General Manager of the company, Mr. Yu Jun, said the vehicles were designed with the best technologies and modern gadgets, including Shadow 2.0 and innovative lights described as highest level in international quality.
“The signature GS4 cars are powered by world-best engines that make low fuel consumption possible. The vehicles are designed to have large spaces and are fitted with elegant exterior designs. We are bringing these premium products and services to exceed the expectations of Nigerian and African customers. We designed the vehicles to give users all-new driving experience and also bring about safer and more comfortable journey”, Jun said.
Yun disclosed that the firm’s long term objective was to step up its growth by increasing annual sales from 335,000 to one million cars sale in Africa, adding that the premium quality offered by GAC Motor’s products was evident in the bulk purchase of the previous models by state governments, police stations and banks as official vehicles.
The auto firm’s manager said Nigerian market remained key to building its growth and service network in Africa, noting that the country is now part of the GAC Motor’s global production network, covering 14 countries.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed at the official unveiling praised GAC Motor for her innovation and creativity. The minister confessed that he admired the company’s commitment to development of the creative industry in Nigeria.
He commended the Chairman of CIG Motors’ sole distributor of GAC Motor in Nigeria, Chief Diana Chan for her generous donations to the promotion of Arts & Culture in Nigeria and called on the Nigerian people to embrace the GAC Motor range of cars.
“I’m very proud to be here today especially knowing the contribution of the GAC Motors in the area of culture, especially in the area of the creative industry and I wish them many more years of collaboration,” he said.
Mr. Jun, who was visiting Nigeria for the first time thanked the Nigerian people for their warm welcome and urged them to extend that welcome to the GS4 Car.
He reassured the people of the company’s commitment to high quality and safety adding that the car is an excellent choice for use on Nigerian roads. “I would like to reassure the African people, especially our customers here in Nigeria, how seriously GAC Motor takes the quality and safety of its vehicles. We are very passionate about our goal to provide a safe transportation experience for all drivers, passengers and pedestrians.”
Chief Diana Chan, who happens to be the first Chinese woman to receive a Chieftaincy title in Nigeria described herself as a Nigerian at heart and reassured the people of the CIG Motors’ continued commitment to providing great service to the people of Nigeria.
