They beat Ghana and Algeria to the hosting rights of the 31st edition of Africa Cup of Nations.

CAF President IssaHayatou announced the winner on Wednesday following votes by the CAF Executive Committee.
Delegations of the bidding countries presented their bids to the CAF Executive Committee.

Gabon co-hosted the 2012 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations with neighbours, Equatorial Guinea.
