G5 governors launch new onslaught against Ayu’s men

Wike inconsolable after loss of presidential ticket, says Momodu

More intrigues seem imminent in the Peoples Democratic Party. Even when it seems the G5 governors have realised their set objectives, following the outcome of the presidential elections as well as the ouster of erstwhile national chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, the group is currently in the final push to finish off what they began, or so it seems.

Daily Times gathered that with Ayu largely out of their way, they are now going after the loyalists of Ayu, especially those who have political ambition. At the receiving end at the moment is Senator Dino Melaye, who has thrown his hat in the ring for the gubernatorial ticket of PDP in Kogi State. But feelers indicate that the G5 as a group is scheming to ensure that Dino loses the bid. Aside putting measures in place to actualise this, Wike and his group of governors are presently working to ensure that a mini convention holds which will largely nail the coffin for Ayu’s re-emergence as the national chairman by any stretch of imagination.

Dino Melaye is aware of the intrigues. Already he has also launched an online ‘verbal war’ with Wike, promising him the political battle of his life, following Wike’s press parley in Port Harcourt on Tuesday , warning that attempts to conduct primaries skewed towards benefitting Dino Melaye will not fly with them.

Other top PDP stalwarts are not sitting on the fence as regards the damage Wike appears to be doing to the party. One of such persons is the Director, Strategic Communications of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation, Bashorun Dele Momodu, who said Nigerians need not take the Rivers State governor seriously following his constant outbursts as ‘he is still hurt by his loss of the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic (PDP), almost a year ago.’

Momodu said Wike still sulks for losing the ticket to the PDP presidential flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and has remained inconsolable.

On his Instagram page on Wednesday, Momodu said the Rivers governor needed to be delivered fully from his self-inflicted anger.

According to Momodu, “Wike truly deserves our pity and prayers. He is a hardworking man who suffers from several afflictions like many mortals: the chief of which is rabid anger. He is a control freak who expects everyone to bow and tremble before him no matter your age or influence in society. Sometimes, when God has been so kind to a man, he may begin to see himself as God.”

He wrote: “Wike is gloating that Atiku lost the election, the process of which is still ongoing. But Wike lost his own election since last year and he is yet to recover.

“Wike is happy that Dr. Iyorchia Ayu is no longer our National Chairman. Oh, but despite his attacks against the gentleman, Wike’s power and wealth couldn’t remove him. Only cowards mock the “dead” in battle.

“Like a suicide bomber, Wike terminated the dreams of three of his Governor friends, in his war of attrition. So what exactly did he gain? He said I did not win any vote but we both lost, yet he wasted billions of state resources on pursuing a dream he couldn’t achieve. I remain a journalist without borders, while he continues to oppress his hapless and seemingly helpless victims in Rivers State.

“Even the Peter Obi that he stylistically intimidated out of PDP is far more relevant today. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar remains a global statesman in politics and in business. And he still can’t do without the ARISE NEWS that he pretends to hate so much. What is there to gloat about?

“Wike will know life better after May 29, 2023, no matter what position he occupies thereafter. No one would ever trust him. He will be viewed with suspicion and derision.

“He may become the first Governor Emeritus to live in the Government House with the new Governor or move the Governor into his own Guest charlet for the sole purpose of signing documents. It is the way the cookie crumbles. What a sad end to a brilliant career!! Very unfortunate.”
