G 22 regroup to support Gov Emmanuel re-election in A’Ibom

A group of 22 Governorship candidates on the platform of People Democratic Party(PDP) who slugged it out with Governor Udom Emmanuel in 2015 party primaries have returned to declare total support for Emmanuel’s re -election. The group made up of former Nigeria Ambassador to Russia, Barr Assam Assam (SAN), Senator Helen Esuene, Prof. Esu, PST Ita Udo, Dr. Samuel Udonsak, Engr Effiong Usung, Jerome Isangedighe among others, resolved to return Governor Emmanuel in next month governorship election. Addressing a press conference in Uyo yesterday on the topic titled “Never Again Masada” the spokesman for the group and former Commissioner for Youth and Sport in Akwa Ibom, Pastor Ita Udo said the G 22 was born out from 2015 governorship party primaries as aggrieved candidates resolved to form pan Akwa Ibom platform with a mission to build a detribalized team that will foster justice, equity and good governance. Pastor Ita Udo maintained that the group was committed to towards sustenance of good leadership, peace, security and fundamental right of citizens. He said the conviction of above ideologies encouraged the group to stand firm with Governor Emmanuel to ensure peace and security in the state Using the biblical analogy of the ancient Israel who after death of Christ challenged the Roman Empire and were killed and pursued to the desert where they found fortress at Masada and were destroyed completely. “Never again shall we watch or allow the anti- people vices and destructive tendencies. Never again shall we allow electoral processes to be skewed or coerced. Never again shall we allow peace and unity of purpose and togetherness to elude our people while we sit and watch” The G 22 further confirmed that Governor Emmanuel four years has witnessed growth and stability including development in infrastructure, education, transportation, health, sport, Agriculture with improved food sufficiency. The group also explained that such development strides motivated them to align with Governor Emmanuel for his re- election to move the state forward and consolidate on the strategic repositioning of the state based on lofty policies. “Our collective decision as patriots should go beyond party lines. Udom has done well and deserves a second term as the governor of our dear state. And in considering the state of our nation, the people thereof and the manifestoes of the two major, political parties it is better to rebuild Nigeria under the people Democratic party (PDP) and get Nigeria working again, than live the vain hope of next level that may never come or become more disastrous than the level we are witnessing” they submitted.
