Fulani Roast 3, Wound 8, Burn 20 Houses in Plateau Fresh Attack

Police have confirmed three deaths in last night’s (Thursday) renewed attack by suspected Fulani armed men in Jebbu-Meyango, Bassa LGA, in Plateau State.

The attack which took place at about 7pm, the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, Matthias Terna said also left eight others wounded.

According to him, the attackers killed and roasted their victims beyond recognition and burnt houses numbering 20.

The attackers the PPRO said fled on sighting the Police rescue team drafted to the area after a distressed call was made.

He said, “Yesterday at about 1900hrs, the Police Division in Bassa Local Government received a distress call that Jebbu-Miango in Bassa was under attack.

” The Division immediately informed the Command and we mobilised to the place.

“While we were close to the village, the armed men suspected to be Fulani Herdsman sighted us and took to their heels.

“Three people were killed and burnt by the armed men: One Danlami Gomaster male of Kwall District and one Emmanuel Audu male of Jebbu-Miango were identified while the last person is yet to be identified.

“Eight other persons sustained various degree of gun shot injuries and were taken to Enos Hospital in Bassa for medical treatment.

“20 housing units were also set ablaze.”

The Police spokesman said investigations were on to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the attacks.

However, our correspondent had earlier reported that armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen had attacked a passenger vehicle near Jebu Bassa, leaving scores dead.
