FRSC Apprehends 357 Road Offenders at MMIA
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has said that 357 road offenders were apprehended at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos in the first quarter of the year.
Assistant Corps Commandant, RS2-115 Airport Unit Command, Mrs. Vivian Aladegbemi has said.
She said that the most prevalent offence within the three months was tyre violation, saying that “most of the vehicles we arrested had tyre problems “.
“The people we arrested complied with our order, which is why we did not prosecute them.’’
She added that the command was facing a major challenge in the volume of traffic at the airport access toll plaza, which caused her Command to be working extra hours during peak periods, due to the few access gates.
“We have slow movement during the peak hours. Sometimes, some stubborn drivers, who do not want to pay toll, will keep others on queue. “This will extend, on occasions, from Ikeja bus stop to the toll gate at the International wing of the airport.
“We believe that if the airport authorities can expand the gates for more access in and out of the airport, the traffic situation may ease and be controllable”, she said.
