Free school feeding: 8,536 pupils benefit in Toto LGA

As part of the Social Investment Scheme of the federal government, 8,536 pupils from Toto local government area of Nasarawa state have been registered for the free school feeding programme.
The Education Secretary of Toto Local Government Education Authority, Mallam Ahmed Idris who disclosed to Journalists in his office recently, stated that the benefiting pupils are drawn from 102 primary schools across the local government and development areas.
According to Ahmed, a committee of the Parents Teachers Associations (PTA) and Schools Based Management Committees (SBMC) have been charged with the responsibility of ensuring the success of the scheme in the area.
He explained that the committee has carefully selected 159 female vendors that will procure home grown food crops, process and serve the benefiting pupils with the meals.
