Francis Uzoho out for four weeks, misses South Africa clash

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has been dealt a heavy blow following the withdrawal of first choice keeper, Francis Uzoho, for the crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

The 19-year-old has been ruled out for four weeks through injury, which he confirmed on his official Twitter handle on Monday.

“Injury is part of the game, definitely not the best timing but there are things beyond us. So sad i won’t be there for my teammates for the next 4weeks ?they’re more than capable to get the job done ✅ Coming back a beast IN CHRIST ALONE,” he posted.

On Sunday, Uzoho who keeps for Elche in Spain got injured in a Segunda clash against Cadiz which they lost 5-1.

Uzoho ended the match but had to be taken to the San Rafael Clinic for treatment.

With the development, attention would shift to who mans the post for the Eagles between Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa for the Eagles against South Africa on November 17.

Recall that Akpeyi lost his place for his poor showing against South Africa in the first leg played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in June last year.
