Four National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have lost their lives after they were involved in a fatal accident in Swali, a suburb of Yenagoa, in Bayelsa State.
Two died instantly, while the others died in the hospital where they receiving treatment.
A witness said the accident occurred as a result of wrongful overtaking of a commercial tricycle by the driver of another on the swali bridge.
The corps members were on their way to the state secretariat of NYSC for their final clearance in their service year”.
Confirming the incident in an interview with Creek FM news, Ikechukwu Igwe, Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Bayelsa said: “Five persons were involved in the accident; two died instantly but two others later died while on admission at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, receiving treatments”.
“It was also a case of overloading and dangerous overtaking, which saw a tricycle run into a stationed truck.”
