Founder’s Family Moves to Reposition Mount Zion LightHouse Full Gospel Church

The family of the late Bishop John Eshiet Ettefia, Founder of Mount Zion LightHouse Full Gospel Church, has initiated steps to reposition the church in line with its founding vision and what they described as God’s original purpose for the ministry.
In a press release made available to our correspondent in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, the family made this known during a visit to the church headquarters at No. 9, Inyang Street, Calabar, recently .
The delegation was led by Mrs. Akpan Uduak Anthony, one of the surviving children of the founder, who addressed the congregation on behalf of the family.
According to the family, Mount Zion LightHouse Full Gospel Church has, over time, drifted from its original divine mandate of leading souls to salvation.
They expressed concern that the church was no longer operating fully in alignment with biblical principles, sound doctrine, and Spirit-led worship as laid down by its founder.
The family also raised serious governance and administrative concerns, noting that only one surviving member of the Board of Trustees remained and that decision-making had reportedly been concentrated in the hands of a single individual. This, they said, was contrary to the church’s constitution and established governance structure.
In addition, the family disclosed that the church had operated in legal non-compliance for over three decades, having failed to remit annual returns to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for 33 years, as required by Nigerian law. To address these challenges, the family announced a comprehensive intervention aimed at restoring both spiritual focus and institutional integrity.
They confirmed that all outstanding annual returns spanning the 33-year period have now been fully settled with the CAC. A new Board of Trustees has also been constituted and approved, while the church’s constitution has been amended and officially ratified by the commission.
Describing the intervention as a “divine assignment,” the family emphasized that their actions were motivated by prayer, good faith, and a desire to prevent the church from becoming a reproach to the Body of Christ.
They stressed that the move was neither personal nor punitive, but a necessary spiritual and administrative step to restore accountability, lawful administration, and effective spiritual leadership.
The family assured members that the restructuring process would be inclusive, peaceful, and transparent, with no individual marginalized.
They called on all members, elders, and ministers of the church to cooperate fully and unite in righteousness for the advancement of God’s Kingdom and the restoration of Mount Zion LightHouse Full Gospel Church to its founding purpose.
