Forget Eagles job, Etim tells Keshi

Former Nigeria international Etim Esin has advised embattled out-of-contract Eagles’ coach, Stephen Keshi to leave the top job and find fortune elsewhere, adding that Keshi can do better by coaching other countries.

“I think Stephen Keshi should make a decision now on what to do with himself as far as coaching the Super Eagles is concerned.

“It is not compulsory that he must continue to coach the senior national team of Nigeria, other countries are looking for him, so it is better he calls it quit now and move ahead with his life rather than remain an object of ridicule before the Nigerian press,” Esin said.

Esin further revealed that Keshi has achieved so much for Nigerian football, thus deserves respect from NFF officials.

“Talking about achievements in the history of Nigerian football, Keshi has done very well both as a player and as a coach, thus deserves some respect from NFF. It also appears that NFF bigwigs do not want him and my candid advice is that he should forget the job.

“Our football at the senior level is actually suffering because we need a manager to handle them. I read the Sport Minister’s comment few days ago that Keshi is not indispensable which implies that he was no longer wanted.

“Frankly, Keshi’s fate is in his hands, so it’s up to him to decide, and if I were him I will quit honorably,” Esin concluded.
