Forced labour, child trafficking attracts attention of club
Forced/Child labour and trafficking has been described as very serious issues which individuals and corporate bodies should assist the government to tackle squarely.
The President of Executive Unique Club of Nigeria, Unique Sopuruchi Vitus Amanze, placed on record that trafficked Nigerian women and children are recruited from rural areas within the country’s borders – women and girls for involuntary domestic servitude and sexual exploitation, and boys for forced labour in street vending, domestic servitude, mining, and begging.
Speaking shortly after the dedication service of his daughter, little Miss Deborah Adaugo Amanze, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Umuako-Nsirimo, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, Amanze, who frowned at the issue, said: “Child labour and human trafficking is a foul scenario in the society. It is a social ill. The weight of the law should fall on those caught in the act, in fact, the law should take its course fully on them”.
Amanze lamented that most parents have derailed from the most socially/morally acceptable way of training their child, adding that, “many parents do not know how to train a child in a right way. Some do not know that the foundation you give a child is education and good moral living”.
The President of Executive Unique Club charged Nigerians nay the world at large to know that the child is the tomorrow, pointing out that, “Without the child, there will be no future. So we should take proper care of them like the Holy Bible emphasised”.
On youth restiveness which is gradually eating deep into the fabrics of the society, Amanze said: “I think the best thing we should do this time around is to inculcate the spirit of godliness, hard work and self-actualisation into our youths so that the issue of restiveness will be harnessed in our society”.
He called on couples who are yet to have a child to wait on God. Using his case as an example, Amanze stated: “We waited for three years for the fruit of the womb, before God blessed us. We never fought because we know that God’s time is the best”.
In their various speeches, his marriage sponsor, Mazi Davis Ugochukwu Olea and his friend, Mr. Amanihu Hilary, thanked God for blessing Amanze’s family with a child after three years. They charged him to be a good father, following God’s principle to train the child in the way of God.
According to Amanihu, “If they train her well, they will reap the dividends and if they train her in a wrong way, the repercussion is there”.
