Nigeria’s U-17 female National team, Flamingos, have qualified for the 2016 World Cup which will take place in Jordan. The girls defeated their African counterpart, South Africa 1-0 in Johannesburg on Saturday, March 26 to clinch the ticket.
All the efforts made by the hosts at the Makhulong Stadium to equalize the second leg tie proved abortive as the match ended in favour of Nigeria.
Rasheedat Ajibade who is the team captain scored the lone goal, after scoring four goals in the first leg which was played few weeks ago in Abuja.
The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will take place in Jordan from September 30 to October 21.
Nigeria has never failed to qualify for the competition since it began in 2008.
