Five Aspirants Pick Forms in PDP Sheriff Faction In Ondo
No fewer than four governorship aspirants have shown interest and also picked their nomination forms for the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state ahead of the November 26th guber poll.
The Daily Times gathered that this faction being led by Prince Biyi Poroye is in support of the Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the National level.
Prince Poroye, the state factional chairman of the party who disclosed this on Thursday at a press conference held in Akure added that party would conduct a transparent primary election by August 23rd to elect its candidate.
He gave the names of the four aspirants as- Jimoh Ibrahim, a controversial business mogul; Sola Ebiseni, immediate past State Commissioner for Environment; Bamiduro Dada, former State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Abiye Ademoyegun, a female aspirant of the factional party.
However, our correspondent learnt that Mr. Niran Sule, one the aspirants of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) has dumped the party for the factional Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
Mr. Sule collected his nomination form on Thursday evening in Akure
Poroye who affirmed that his faction remains the authentic leadership Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in Ondo state said the party would conduct a screening exercise for the four aspirants after the submission of their forms.
“I can assure you that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) screening will be thorough, pure and transparent.
“Those that are unable to obtain the form, I am sure are regretting it now”, he said.
The party’s factional chairman added the election of the ad-hoc delegates that would elect the party’s main candidate would hold on August 15 stressing that any aggrieved aspirants who might felt cheated after the primary could file for appeal.
“The whole country is going to take and learn from the election of Ondo state and we are very sure that the way back to presidency has started and it is going to start with us” Mr. Poroye said.
He further urged the four aspirants to begin talks with the delegates that would cast votes for them during the primary election maintaining that the election would be free and fair to all parties.
