FirstBank breaks ground on Nigeria’s tallest eco-friendly headquarters

FirstBank, West Africa’s premier bank and a leader in financial inclusion, has officially kicked off the construction of its new state-of-the-art, eco-friendly headquarters in Eko Atlantic City, Lagos, with a groundbreaking ceremony today.

This landmark 40-storey building, set to become Nigeria’s tallest, is designed to be an architectural marvel and a beacon of sustainability in Africa’s financial sector.

The new headquarters will be green-certified, highlighting FirstBank’s commitment to environmentally responsible building practices.

The cutting-edge, eco-friendly design is not only poised to set new standards in the banking industry but will also contribute to reduced operational costs, further solidifying FirstBank’s leadership in sustainable banking practices.

Olusegun Alebiosu, CEO of FirstBank Group, expressed pride in the project’s significance, stating, “This milestone marks a new era for FirstBank as we continue our journey of innovation, customer satisfaction, and sustainability. Our new headquarters is a world-class structure that will contribute to economic growth across Africa and deliver long-term value to all our stakeholders.”

With over 130 years of heritage, FirstBank has long been a pioneer of customer-centricity and sustainable business practices. The bank operates across nine countries in three continents, further expanding its international presence.

Chairman of FirstHoldCo, Femi Otedola, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts, stating, “Today marks a milestone made possible by the support of our customers, stakeholders, and partners. We are grateful for the continued trust as we work to bring this visionary project to life.”

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including the President of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, senators, state governors, federal ministers, and industry leaders.

This event signifies the beginning of an exciting chapter in FirstBank’s legacy as a leader in the African financial industry.
