Finance Minister tasks revenue growth C’ttee on result driven

The Minister of Finance Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed has implored the Strategic Revenue Growth Initiative (SRGI) Steering Committee on implementation and results in delivery of the initiative. Ahmed gave the charge on Thursday in Abuja during the inaugural meeting of the SRGI, where the committee was tasked on ensuring the objectives and target areas as responsibility was achieved to provide good governance and strategic direction for implementation. The Daily Times recalls that the SRGI was launched in January 2019 and are built on three core thematic areas including; Achieve sustainability in revenue generation, Identify new and enhance the enforcement of existing revenue streams, Achieve cohesion in the revenue ecosystem (people and tools). While the ToR of the Steering Committee includes;- To oversee the implementation of the SRGI; To receive and consider reports from portfolio holding agencies; To develop reporting template for portfolio agencies; To review from time to time the portfolio of agencies. The ToR of the Steering Committee include; To oversee the implementation of the SRGI; To receive and consider reports from portfolio holding agencies; To develop reporting template for portfolio agencies; To review from time to time the portfolio of agencies; Report (Monthly to Economic Management Team, Quarterly to National Economic Council and the Federal Executive Council on the implementation status; Seek Presidential approval for specific initiatives and implementation; Give direction to agencies on the implementation of their portfolios; and any other matter that is helpful to the ToR. She said that the Strategic Revenue Growth Initiative (SRGI) Steering Committee which will provide overall governance and strategic direction for the implementation of the SRGI and has membership from all of the major revenue generating agencies. “It is our plan that the Steering Committee will guide the implementation of the SRGI whilst driving the results delivery and ensuring that initiatives are prioritized and sequenced in a manner to deliver maximum revenue impacts in a more collaborative and integrated manner”, the minister said.
