FIFA Rankings: Nigeria now 50th, as Argentina stay top

Nigeria have moved a spot up and are now 50th in the world according to the latest FIFA Rankings released on Wednesday.

They are also seventh in the African ratings, which is still led by Senegal, who are ranked 33rd in the world.

The top 34 positions of the ranking table remain unchanged with Argentina, Brazil and Germany still holding first, second and third place respectively.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles ranking is expected to suffer seriously by next month because they will not feature at AFCON 2017 in Gabon and have been inactive since their 3-1 home win over Algeria in a 2018 World Cup qualifier in November.

Nigeria World Cup rivals Algeria are 39th in the world and fifth in Africa, Cameroun are 62nd in the world and 12th in Africa, and Zambia are 88th in the world and 21st in Africa.

Meanwhile, the next FIFA World Ranking will be published on February 9, 2017.
