Fidson rewards 200 brilliant children in Astymin competition
In its resolve to stimulate hard work and academic excellence in the nation’s education system, Nigeria’s leading pharmaceutical company, Fidson Healthcare Plc, through its Astymin brand, has rewarded 200 best-performing children in its 2017 edition of Astymin Brilliance Reward (ABR) competition.
The 200 primary six pupils drawn from different public and private primary schools across nine states in the south-west and South-eastern zones of the country, were hosted and honoured by Astymin at the popular Ndubuisi Kanu Park, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos recently, with school bags containing various educational materials and were also issued certificate of excellence.
The states include: Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Delta, Anambra and Enugu,
Speaking at the event which seeks to promote academic excellence among children, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, urged the children to embrace handwork and strive for excellence at all times as they move to secondary school and should not stop at the primary school level.
Adebule who was represented by Director, Special Duties, State Universal Basic Education Board, Mrs. Tola Obadofin, commended Fidson for strengthening the ability and intelligence of the children, stressing that the reward will motivate them to do more in their studies and also encourage others who were not part of the competition to be more serious with their education.
She urged parents to continue to invest in the eduction of their kids and make it their top priority.
In his remarks, General Manger of Fidson Healthcare Plc, Mr Friday Enaholo, said the ABR competition which has been in existence for seven years, is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
His word: “We believe it is better to catch them young and put them on the right path to success.
“Therefore, Astymin will continue to take the giant stride in rewarding brilliant primary school children in a way that motivates them to stay focused on their studies, believing that merit and hard work can still be rewarded.”
He went on: “Like we have always emphasised, the ABR is our attempt to bring back the glory days of our education by throwing our weight behind the children’s drive for academic excellence.”
The awardees and their parents who could not hide their joy told The Daily Times that they will forever be grateful to Fidson for the recognition and promised not to let the company down at the secondary level.
