Fidson Healthcare debunks M/A rumour with May & Baker

Fidson healthcare plc has debunked all forms of rumours alluding to the company being acquired or merging with another pharmaceutical company, May & Baker Plc.

The company said that a recent publication in a National newspaper, not Daily Times, alleging that Fidson Healthcare has opened talks with May & Baker, on the basis of acquisition was total falsehood, baseless and meant to damage the company’s rising profile.

Fidson while debunking the rumour, called on all stakeholders, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), among others to disregard the rumour. “We, therefore, call on all our stakeholders including The Nigerian Stock Exchange and The Securities and Exchange Commission to disregard this unwholesome publication”

Fidson Healthcare, in a publication released on the Nigerian stock Exchange (NSE) portal on Thursday 25th May 2017, said that its attention was drawn to the story by the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

“The Nigerian Stock Exchange drew our attention yesterday, to a publication in the newspaper of Monday, 22nd May 2017 in which an assertion was made that Fidson Healthcare Plc was in a negotiation with a competitor company, May & Baker Nigeria Plc with a view to acquiring or merging with the latter”

The statement signed by Adebanjo A, the company’s secretary titled “Re: the speculative news of Fidson Healthcare Plc and May & Baker Plc merger/acquisition” the company, in pursuant of Rule 17.10, Part C, of the Nigerian Stock Exchange , said “. Fidson Healthcare Plc is not, whether directly or indirectly nor through any Financial Consultant in any form of discussion, negotiation or consultation whatsoever, that may lead to an acquisition or a merger of the two undertakings”

The company, debunking such that May & Baker wants to acquire it, added that there is no discussion of any sort either contemplated or ongoing in respect of any proposed acquisition of May & Baker Nigeria.

  1. The information going round in that regard is baseless, speculative and unrelated and in no way connected with the decisions of the Board of directors and Management of Fidson Healthcare Plc.

The entire public and the capital market, in particular, are hereby advised to ignore this speculative publication and treat it only as a rumour as it never emanated from Fidson Healthcare Plc.
