FG will fight against Biafra agitators– Senator Bulkachuwa

Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, has declared that the Nigerian government is prepared to go to war against “insurgents” in the south.
The Senator went on to say that the Southeast had previously attempted secession from the country, which culminated in civil war, and that he wonders whether they (the Southeast) want to go down the same path again, warning that the Nigerian government will have no option.
On Channels Television, he stated, “There are those who feel democracy isn’t good enough for them, and they want to create their own methods of belonging to this thing called Nigeria, and if they don’t get their desire, they’ll let Nigeria fall apart.”
Is there anything in the constitution that authorizes or encourages something like that? As a result, they are completely outside the scope of the constitution.
“They’re just rebels, arsonists and criminals in short. So, what are we going to consider to even give them a chance to come and say their wish and let Nigeria tremble and bow before them and say ‘okay, we’ve granted you your wish.’
Those insurgents in the Southeast are all professing to want their own country, Biafra, aren’t they? Is it true that they will get control of their country by murdering people?
“They’ve tried it before, do they want us to go back to the same route? I don’t think so. But if they do, if that’s what they choose, has Nigeria got any choice?
“Will we just allow them, bow and say, ‘we’ll grant you your own wish?’ No. Nigerian government has to stand out, fight them and give them what they want.”
The South-East has been clamoring to be given the chance to produce the country’s next President in 2023, but Senator Bulkachuwa pointed out that politics is a numbers game, and political parties should be able to provide the best candidates from any zone for Nigerians to choose from.
“I believe these banditry, kidnappings, agitations and killings are all prelude to the 2023 election,” he added.
“I don’t even believe in zoning. I believe the right candidates should be fielded by all the parties and then let Nigerians choose from the best among them.
Those with the most votes and who support the same candidate will undoubtedly win. Unless you don’t want something that goes against democratic standards, in which case, I don’t know, you can invent your own method.
“I don’t believe zoning is democratic. I don’t believe zoning will produce the best president for this country.”
