Managing Director of XpressRide, a rising player in Nigeria’s transport industry, Ismaila Yusuf Atus, has called on the federal government to prioritise comprehensive reforms in the transportation sector to ease hardships faced by Nigerians in the past year.

In a New Year message, Atus highlighted the urgent need for an affordable, safer, and more efficient transport system. Reflecting on 2024, he noted that escalating fuel prices and limited ride availability severely impacted Nigerians, making transportation both expensive and challenging.

“From higher fuel costs to fewer available rides, these challenges tested our resilience,” he said. “It’s time to make transportation better for everyone.”

Atus proposed the adoption of real-time ride tracking systems to enhance passenger security and convenience. He also emphasised the importance of job creation within the transport sector, suggesting that a robust ride-hailing industry could significantly reduce youth unemployment and support economic growth.

Additionally, XpressRide advocated for the use of fuel-efficient vehicles tailored to Nigerian roads. Atus argued that such an approach would lower costs, promote sustainability, and improve the overall efficiency of the sector.

“By supporting our people and resources, we can create a more reliable and affordable ride-hailing system. This will not only reduce transportation costs but also empower our nation and strengthen the economy,” he said.

Atus urged Nigerians to unite in the mission to improve the transport system, stressing that collective effort and shared ideas would be instrumental in achieving meaningful change.

“Let’s ensure our voices are heard and our needs met. Together, we can build a brighter future and make transportation a source of pride for every Nigerian,” he concluded.
