FG Suspends Annual Leave for Perm Secs, Directors

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday ordered the suspension of leave for permanent secretaries, chief executives of government agencies and directorate level officers in the federal public service.

The directive was contained in a circular, titled, ‘Suspension of Leave” signed by the Head of the Civil Service, Mr. Danladi Kifasi, and issued to all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the federal government.

Kifasi said that President Jonathan gave the directive to ensure a smooth and seamless handing over of his administration on May 29.

A statement signed by the Director of Communications, Haruna Imrana, in Abuja quoted the head of the civil service as requesting all affected officers presently on leave to resume duty immediately.

Meanwhile, government has also ordered the verification of all staff of the various MDAs

Kifasi gave the directive to officials managing the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) in a circular signed by the Permanent Secretary (Special Duties) in his office, Dr. Amina Shamaki

According to him, the exercise would encompass verification and re-validation of crucial documents of all federal staff in the core MDAs of the federal government and their outstations in the affected states, in collaboration with other IPPIS stakeholders.

“’The exercise, which is the second phase, would commence at the headquarters of federal MDAs in the FCT May 11 to 22 and between May 18 and 22 in the Northeast and north Central zones,” the statement explained.

He added that when the exercise is concluded, it would provide for a centralised database system for the Nigerian public service with a single, accurate source of employee information that would aid government’s manpower planning and decision-making.
