FG Postpones COVID-19 Vaccination

The second phase of the nationwide vaccination program has been postponed by the federal government.

After the United States provided almost four million doses of the Moderna vaccine, the second phase was set to begin on Tuesday.

However, a spokesperson for the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey, stated in a statement on Sunday that the start of the exercise had been postponed owing to “unforeseen circumstances.”

“A new date will be communicated, please,” the statement said.

So yet, just approximately 1% of the population has been fully vaccinated.

Nigeria reported 471 new instances of the novel coronavirus on Sunday, as resident doctors strike over unpaid payments across the country.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, fresh cases were recorded on Sunday from 13 states (NCDC).

As fears of a third wave loom, the number of new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria has lately increased.

To prepare for the influx of new cases, the government has recommended Nigerians to follow health measures like as masking and social separation, particularly indoors.
