The Federal Government has unveiled the Youth Farmers Enrollment Portal, a groundbreaking initiative designed to combat rising unemployment and food insecurity across Nigeria. This innovative platform was launched by the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, in Abuja.

The Youth Farmers Enrollment Portal is the result of a collaborative effort between the Federal Government and the Nigerian Youth Economic Engagement and De-Radicalisation Programme (NIYEEDEP). This initiative aims to create economic opportunities for young people, bolster the nation’s agricultural sector, and address pressing issues such as youth unemployment, household poverty, hunger, and food insecurity.

According to Comrade Olawande, “This intervention is designed to align young people with the economic agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, promoting active youth participation in economic development.” The Minister emphasized that the initiative seeks to create 6 million direct jobs for youths in 2025 across various sectors, including agriculture, food and beverage, and agro-allied industries.

The portal is specifically designed for individuals aged 18 to 35, offering a comprehensive range of resources, including:

  • Agricultural Training Programs: Providing young farmers with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the agricultural sector.
  • Modern Farming Techniques: Equipping young farmers with the latest methods and technologies to improve crop yields and efficiency.
  • Mentorship Opportunities: Pairing young farmers with experienced mentors who can provide guidance and support.
  • Financial Support: Offering access to funding and resources to help young farmers establish or expand their agricultural ventures.

Comrade Olawande encouraged young people across the country to take advantage of this opportunity to shape the future of agriculture and contribute to national development. Interested individuals can enroll through the portal.
