FG inaugurates, hands over 6 classroom blocks in Niger Delta

In a bid to complement and improve the learning environment of the students in the Niger Delta region, the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs has inaugurated six blocks of classrooms to some Niger Delta States.

Speaking at Ode-Aye in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, while inaugurating one of the projects in the region, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, stated that the project was a further proof of the commitment of the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to provide quick relief and improvement in the living standard of students in the Niger Delta region.

Pastor Usani who was represented by a Deputy Director in the Housing and Urban Development Department of the Ministry, Mr. Silas Bamai, assured the people of the state that Federal Government is committed to redressing the inequalities in the Niger Delta region.

In the words of the Honourable Minister, “This is just the beginning; the Ministry is passionately seeking better and faster ways of delivery on its mandate”.

He expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the school management and the people of Ode-Aye community assuring that the Ministry would continue to give prime attention to its commitment in the State.

The Minister urged the benefiting communities to be dedicated to the upkeep of the environment, the protection and maintenance of the facilities, saying the improvement of lives and better learning environment in the Niger Delta region was the responsibility of all.

Similarly, the Chairman Education Committee of the Government Secondary School, Odi, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Mr. Anthony Torulagha expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, for the gesture.

Other States in the Niger Delta region where block of classrooms were handed over include: Alaghodaro Primary School Izikhiri, Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State, Government Secondary School Odi, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State,

Egbuoma Secondary School, Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, Army Day Secondary School Bori Camp, Obio Akpor Local Government of River State, Methodist Primay School Edemaya, Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa –Ibom State, Comprehensive Secondary School Nkor, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State.

In Imo State, the Chairman Education Commitment, Honourable Ohanuba Emmanuel appreciated the Ministry for bringing such innovative learning facilities for the students of Egbuoma Secondary School, Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.

Col. A. Mohammed who represented the Director of Education, Six Division of the Nigerian Army, Bori Camp, Portharcourt Local Government Area of River State assured the Ministry that the new facility provided would be adequately utilized by the students and staff of the School.

Comrade Enobong Jumbo, the Chairman Education Committee, Atan-Ikpe, Ikot-Abasi Local Government of Akwa Ibom State, represented by the Secretary, Pastor Attah Nelson said that the event was another turning point as they witnessed the official opening of the six classroom block constructed by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.

The Traditional Ruler of Egbuoma Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Okozie, Oguta Local Government of Imo State, represented by the Principal of the School thanked the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs for the provision of the new classroom building provided with library facilities and a principal office.

The Community Leader, Mr. Eleidung C.J Akpan of Atan Ikpe in Edemaya Clan, Ikot Abasi Local Government of Akwa Ibom State, said since education was the bed rock of any society advised teachers in the school to put more efforts in teaching so as to impact knowledge to the students of the school.

The Head Teacher of Methodist Primary School of Ode Aye, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, Comrade Adefeyiju G. B, thanked the Federal Government for bringing an organized educational facility for the pupils of the School.

“As Oliver Twist we will always ask for more”. He pleaded with the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs to help in building a security fence for the protection of the school equipment.

In Edo State, the Head Teacher of Alaghodaro Primary School, Izikhiri, Uhunwede Local Government Area of Edo State, Comrade Igbinovia Patrick Aibuedefe, said that was with keen interest to note that the driving force behind government passion for building one of the best schools with well-equipped facilities for a good academic foundation in order to compete globally.

The Principal of Government Secondary School, Odi, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Mr. Binaebi Gomet, applauded the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs for providing a structured facility with blackboards, computers, desktops, scanners, fridge and generator for the school.

The Principal, Army Day Secondary School, Bori Camp, Obio Akpor Local Government of River State, Chief Abbey O.R, commend the effort of the Hourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs for being an instrument of improving the education sector of the state by providing the block of classrooms, black boards, tables, chairs, printers, computers, generator and borehole for the school.

The Principal, Comprehensive Secondary School, Nkor Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State, appreciated the inauguration of six classrooms block which was the first of its kind since the inception of the school, courtesy of our illustrious and indefatigable son, who deemed it fit for us to experience democratic dividends from a ‘Ruling Party’.
