FG files 2 more count charge against Senator Misau

The Federal Government on Monday amended the five count criminal charge against Senator Isah Misau , Bauchi Central Senatorial district, increasing it to seven.
Beside, the amendment, the private prosecution counsel Dr. Alex Izinyon (SAN) also applied for subpoena to compel Channels television to produce Senator Misau interview video tape that contained his alleged offences.
The interview according to the prosecution counsel, Izinyon contains details of the allegations against the senator representing the Bauchi state central senatorial district, Senator Misau.
Senator Misau was accused of allegedly spreading falsehood against the office of the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Ibrahim Idris during an interview in August Last year.
According to the charge Mr. Misau allegedly accused the IGP’s office of engaging in fraudulent collection of millions of Naira from police officers seeking promotion in the service.
The senator was also accused of alleging sexual misconduct against Mr. Idris.
Senator Misau was also accused of falsely linking the office of the IGP with fraudulent collection of at least N10 billion from individuals and oil marketers to provide them with security.
The senator pleaded not guilty to the amended charges.
After taking his plea the prosecution informed the court of its desire to produce three witnesses in the next sitting and an application to serve subpoena on the Channels television to produce the interview video tape.
Izinyon SAN told journalists after the court session on Monday, the subpoena was needed to ensure that Channels Television produce the video tape of the interview with Senator Misau where he disseminated falsehood against the IGP.
Mr. Misau’s allegation came shortly after the senator engaged in a serious of verbal rambling with the IGP.
