FG disburses N2m loan to 200 men, women to start businesses in Bauchi

Federal Government, under its micro-enterprises enhancement loan scheme has disbursed the sum of N2million to 200 micro-enterprises businessmen and women in Bauchi state.

Disbursing the loan to the beneficiaries in Bauchi, Tuesday, President Mohammadu Buhari stated that the loan is to help the beneficiaries, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Represented by the Director-General, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Nasiru Ladan Argungu, President Buhari stated that the beneficiaries were selected from the 20 local government areas of the state.

According to him, the beneficiaries were carefully selected by their respective local government council chairmen, adding that 10 beneficiaries are picked from each of the local government areas in the state.

In his speech on the occasion, the Bauchi State Coordinator of the NDE, Lawal Yaya, who represented the Directorate’s Director-General, informed that beneficiaries of the enhancement loan are mostly women selling little items like potatoes, tomatoes, Akara, groundnut, groundnut oil, among others.

According to him, the beneficiaries are those who do not have big capital to invest in their trades.

Hauwa Aliyu Jalla who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries expressed appreciation to President Buhari for giving them the money to boost their businesses.

She pledged that she alongside her colleagues will ensure judicious use of the money with a view to boosting their respective trades.

According to her, the FG’s gesture will no doubt go a long way in helping their families and contribute their quotas to the socio-economic development of the state.
