FG to cushion adverse effect of recession on industrialists

The Vice-President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, has promised industrialists in Anambra State that, the Federal Government will do something to ameliorate their hardship occasioned by the current recession in the country.
Osinbajo who spoke yesterday at Harbour Industrial Layout, Atani near Onitsha, the Anambra State commercial nerve centre said he was in the state to find out the problems of the local industries and how to help them in this period of recession
He said, ‘the Federal Government was already discussing with the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano in various areas in which Federal Government can help local industrialists in the State.
The Vice-President said he was sent by President Mohammed Buhari to ascertain how to address the needs of the industrialists, saying that their primary concern was how to sustain the jobs of many workers employed in these industries and that was the more reason he came to visit the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige.
The Vice-president lauded the enterprise of the industrialists in the State, particularly those of them at Harbour Industrial Layout, stressing “truly Anambra is the hotbed of industrialisation”.
He noted that the industrialists in the State were the most active people in the country and that was why he decided to start the visit to local industries in the country that is in the State.
The Chairman and managing director of Pokobros, Group of Companies, Chief Paul Okonkwo, who thanked the president for sending his Vice to have firsthand knowledge of what they were going through, appealed that Federal Government should provide adequate and constant power supply to them to reduce the cost of production of their goods due to epileptic power supply.
Chief Okonkwo also asked the Federal Government to grant financial and moral support to the industrialists at Harbour layout to cushion the lost, when they had too much flooding in their companies in 2012, leading to the sack of many of their workers.
