FG approves N2.24bn rehabilitation, water system upgrade in Adamawa
The federal government has approved N2.244 billion for the rehabilitation and upgrading of water supply in eight towns affected by insurgency in Adamawa state.
Adamawa state Project Coordinator, Maurice Vunobolki, made this known in Yola on Thursday during the contract signing agreements with the six contractors for the immediate take-off of the eight–month projects.
He named the eight towns as Garkida, Gombi, Hong, Pella, Uba, Maiha, Michaka and Gulak.
The project is under the federal government’s North East Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP) in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states in partnership with the World Bank.
Vonubolki said the water supply programme is part of the federal government milestone in the implementation of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiative under component two of the project.
He said out of the six contractors that have met the standard procurement protocols, five were indigenous firms, disclosing that Emnamu Global Enterprises Nigeria Limited would execute the Hong water rehabilitation and upgrading project.
According to him, China Zhonghao Nigeria Limited will execute the Gombi and Garkida water system rehabilitation and upgrading while Fieldrill Nigeria Limited and City International Dimensions Construction Limited will handle the Michika and Uba water rehabilitation and upgrading projects.
The coordinator also said that Hillwater Resources Limited and Bellsworth Resources Limited will focus on the Maiha, Gulak and Pella water rehabilitation projects.
