In the bid to avert ugly incidences in schools during the forthcoming election, particularly against the background of the insurgent attacks experienced at Chibok Schools in Maiduguri, the Federal Government has assured Nigerian to entertain no fear.
Announcing this recently was the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Viola Onwuliri, at a Press briefing in Abuja.
It would be recalled that before the recent postponement of the election, earlier scheduled for February, several calls were made on the government to consider closing schools before the polls, for fear of attacks, which the government rejected.
According to Prof. Onwuliri: “Government has put in place adequate security measures for schools during and after the election.”
Though, the minister did not say anything on whether schools shall be closed during the exercise, slated for the months of March and April.
