FCTA partners private developers on staff housing scheme

In a bid to tackle the perennial challenges of staff housing scheme, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is presently engaging public building companies in other to achieve the objective.
Head of Administration and Finance, FCT Water Board, Mrs. Joy Okoro made this disclosure during last week’s interactive session on the housing scheme with the staff and developer at the FCDA Conference Hall, Garki, Abuja.
The immediate past Deputy Director, Staff Welfare who spoke on behalf of the Administration, expressed confidence in the capacity of the developer (Shemomal Nigeria ltd) to deliver quality and affordable houses to the staff, advising them to key into the scheme so that they would not retire without a roof over their heads.
She added that she was particularly impressed and convinced of Shemomal’s capabilities, having toured their sites and offices and seen what they have on ground, in terms of materials and equipment.
Regretting past experiences many staff had with developers and housing schemes, Mrs. Okoro said: “In the past, we heard so much gospel about getting houses for staff, but in the end, nothing came out of it, so when Shemomal came, it took time before I finally decided to find out what they have on sites.
