The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has approved a total of N40.9 billion for critical infrastructure projects, security improvements, and asset insurance across the FCT, with a major focus on satellite towns.
The approvals were made during the first FCT Executive Committee meeting of 2025, chaired by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Key projects include multi-event sports complexes, magistrate courts, police divisional headquarters, power supply upgrades, and insurance coverage for government assets.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the Chief of Staff to the Minister, Mr. Chidi Amadi, noted that it was the 12th Executive Committee meeting since Wike assumed office.
He disclosed that out of the 12 memos presented, some were stepped down or withdrawn, while six were approved for execution.
Also speaking, the Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, Mr. Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, announced that N36.5 billion had been approved for several projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure and security in the FCT’s satellite towns.

According to Zulkiflu, N19.6 billion will go towards constructing multi-event sports centers in Abuja, while N13.9 billion will be spent on building two magistrate courts. Additionally, N3 billion has been allocated for the procurement and installation of a 33kV power supply and a solar streetlight system.
He disclosed that the contract for the multi-event sports complex was split into two lots.
“Lot A, located at Area 3 and Area 10 in Garki District, has been awarded to Earthgain Energy and Environmental Services Ltd at N9.9 billion. Lot B, situated in Kafe District behind Life Camp, has been awarded to Tegwa-Tegwa Nigeria Ltd for N9.7 billion,” he stated.
Both projects are expected to be completed within 12 months.
Zulkiflu further revealed that two magistrate courts would be built in Asokoro and Garki Districts at a total cost of N13.9 billion.
“The committee also approved the construction of two magistrates’ courts in Asokoro and Garki Districts, at the cost of N7.6 billion and N6.3 billion respectively.
“The projects, expected to be delivered within 15 and 18 months respectively, were initiated to improve access to justice and legal services in the FCT,” he said.
To enhance security and ease of movement, the FCTA approved N3 billion for a 33kV power supply project from Dawaki to Bwari. The amount also covers the installation of a solar-powered streetlight system on Arab Road and U-Shape Road. The contract, awarded to CGC Nigeria Ltd, is scheduled for completion within six months.
On his part, the Director of Security Services, Mr. Adamu Gwary, disclosed that N3.6 billion had been allocated for constructing three new Police Divisional Headquarters with staff quarters in Kuje, Gwagwalada, and Kwali Area Councils.
Gwary recalled that in September 2024, Minister Wike had emphasized the need to bring security services closer to residents, especially in rural communities.
“At that time, nine were approved and today, three others were presented and approved, making up two divisional headquarters in each of the six area councils.
“This is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, through the provision of effective, efficient and adequate security for residents of the FCT.
“The support is equally in fulfilment of the FCT minister’s promise to provide adequate security in the city, satellite towns and the area councils, during his visit to the six area councils in 2024.”
He emphasized that the move aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the FCT Minister’s commitment to securing residents.
While noting that the Wike-led FCTA has recorded significant progress in addressing crime and criminality in the FCT, he said that the indices of insecurity were going down in the territory and reiterated the commitment of the FCTA towards reducing crime in the FCT.
In addition to infrastructure and security projects, the FCTA also approved N795.6 million for a 12-month insurance policy covering its movable and immovable assets.
In her address, the FCT Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Grace Adayilo, explained that four insurance companies and three brokers were contracted to implement the policy.
“This will ensure the continuity of government businesses and minimise financial losses in the event of unforeseen incidents.
“This is in line with federal government directive, mandating the compulsory insurance of government assets, properties, buildings under construction and public funds.”
The lead insurance company is Consolidated Hallmark Insurance PLC, supported by KBL Insurance PLC, Cornerstone Insurance PLC, and Crown Takaful Insurance Ltd. The insurance brokers include Sam-Vic Insurance Brokers Ltd (Lead), Radiance Insurance Brokers Ltd, and KOB Insurance Brokers Ltd.
