FCT Polls: INEC Announces 5-Day Ward-Level PVC Collection Drive
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of Permanent Voter Card (PVC) distribution across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), setting the stage for the highly anticipated Area Council elections scheduled for February 21, 2026.
In a statement released on Tuesday via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the electoral body urged all eligible voters in the territory to take advantage of the window to pick up their cards.
According to the commission, the decentralised collection process begins on Thursday, January 22, and will run through to Monday, January 26. During this period, cards will be available at the specific Registration Areas (Wards) where voters are registered, operating daily between 9 am and 3 pm.
“Dear #FCT Resident, as we prepare for the February 21st Area Council Election, INEC is bringing your PVC closer to you. Don’t miss the chance to collect your PVC in the FCT,” the statement read.
INEC further clarified that after the initial five-day ward-level exercise concludes on January 26, the collection points will revert to the INEC Area Council offices across the FCT for those who missed the first window.
To streamline the process and prevent confusion, the commission has advised residents to track their collection locations using the dedicated locator portal.
The forthcoming election will see 17 political parties fielding candidates for Chairmanship and Councillorship positions across the 62 wards of the six Area Councils. Voting is scheduled to commence at 8:30 a.m. on election day.
