FCT hospitals urged to be proactive
The Secretary, Health and Human Services of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Barr. Amanda Pam, has called on FCT hospitals to be more proactive in the discharge of their duties.
He made the call at Kubwa General Hospital in continuation of her familiarisation tour of FCT General Hospitals.
She implored the management of the hospitals to think outside the box in other to tackle the challenges of space for expansion and over stretched facilities in the management of government hospitals within the FCT.
Pam noted that the biggest challenge facing government hospitals in the territory was inadequate space for expansion, following the daily influx of patients seeking medical care in the territory.
She pointed out that the planners of the FCT did not envisaged that the population would grow rapidly within this short period.
The Secretary expressed satisfaction with the activities of the hospital, urging the management to put in more efforts in improving the health services being rendered to the FCT residents.
She commended the management and the entire staff of the hospital, noting that in spite of the high number of influx of patients to the hospital from neighbouring states, the hospital still gives the best medical care to the teeming patients.
Conducting the Secretary round the hospital, Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Ahmed Danfulani, stated that other projects successfully executed by the hospital management include online medical record, expansion of the laboratory, modern intensive care unit (ICU), one stock pharmacy and a wellness clinic among others.
Highlight of the Secretary’s visit was the commissioning of a borehole sunk by the management of the hospital to boost water supply to the facility.
