Within the time of its existence, Kozi has hit various milestones, including recognition within the industry for its classy designs and collaborations with leading fashion trendsetters, designers and textile houses. They have also been featured in renowned fashion publications and have received commendations for their innovative approach to creating their collections.
One of their latest collections is the 2023 Kozi clothing line. This collection consists of three exceptional fashion statements in the form of two dresses and a two-piece set. In this article, we will provide you with all the details of these outfits. Let’s go!
The first dress in the collection is a stunning mini-white dress crafted from exquisite Chinese white crepe fabric that effortlessly hugs the body. The design has various unique attributes that assemble the final look, one of which is the turtle neckline. This characteristic is popularly known as a high neck or a polo neck. However, in this design, there is a slight distinction in the way it is sewn. Unlike others that cling softly to the neck, this dress has an open space, making it almost resemble a boat neck pullover or jumper.

This sheath dress, or as some will call it, pencil dress, flows down to the mid-torso in a straight line coupled with dart lines that give the attire a more sculpted and enhanced body fitting or shape. Attached to the armhole of the attire is the major highlight of the dress — the bell sleeve. Like many of its kind, this sleeve is fitted to the body from the shoulder line down to the forearm, where it spreads out into an asymmetrical flare, creating a captivating slanted effect. Accompanied by this luxurious feature is the intricate addition of black bias strips woven around the edges or hem of the sleeve. This inclusion added a different twist to the fit and made the whole attire pop. To wrap up this look, a black invisible zipper is placed at the back to add to the striking contrast of the pristine white fabric and ensure a snug fit.
While all of the listed attributes above came together to do a fantastic job on the garment, the dress still has a few shortcomings. Admittedly, the neckline of the dress looks very daring and different. However, it has a stiffness to it that makes it look unnatural in the overall aesthetics. This just dampens the glow of the dress.
In addition, the zip placement at the back of the dress seems a bit bent or misplaced, making the dress look unbalanced when looked at from a certain angle. The designer may want to pay more attention to these few lapses, but aside from them, the white bodycon dress is impressive.
The second dress in the collection shares some similarities with a traditional Chinese female dress called Cheongsam because of the slit and slanted button alignment it shares with it. Still, this piece is very different in its eccentric way. The dress is made out of an exclusive Damask fabric defined by flower-like patterns littered across the black background.
This sleeveless wrap dress started with a round neckline that accentuated the delicate contour of the neck. Then, it sprawled down into a button wrap attribute that made the dress stand out. This feature was perfected by a graceful asymmetrical cutting, sliding from the left side of the dress to the right and fastened by shank buttons lined at the left edges of the cloth. This addition, like a chain effect, made room for the next attribute in the outfit, which is the middle slit. This facet of the dress starts from the mid-thigh and trickles to the mid-calf. Finally, to close the look with a dashing and elegant aura, there is a provision of a shawl crafted from the same Damask fabric.
This second dress is quite a piece. The careful selection of the fabric used and the designs imprinted on it is very alluring and distinctive in a good way. However, there is one thing the designer may want to pay close attention to in the dress. The idea of making the dress a wrap dress is very classy and gives the illusion of cultural illusion as it shares some attributes with Chinese traditional attire. Still, the design can do without the bottom side of the apparel, starting from the knee area. This is because the asymmetrical effect that was meant to give the dress a beautiful appeal made it look uneven and odd to the eye. Once this is attended to, the piece will balance out into the masterpiece it is made to be.
Keeping the last for the best, designer Lovely Nyoreme Obodozie created the third outfit in the collection as a two-piece. The stylish set made from a sandy brown Rayon fabric comprises a blouse and trousers, which we will be dissecting for you.
The blouse of the piece is a magnificent sight to behold due to the numerous eye-catching features it carries, starting from the neckline. Like the first dress in the collection, this piece has a boat neck jumper that completely envelops the neck and gives a sophisticated effect to the attire. Spanning down to the body of the blouse is the cowl attribute, following immediately after the turtle neck. This feature, also known as a drape collar, is custom-built with careful pleated stitches made on both shoulder lines to give a plush appearance. Following this trait is a loose pleated bell long sleeve that enhances the overall appeal of the blouse and an invincible zipper at the back that secures the attire to the body of the wearer.
On the bottom half of this set is a fitted Harem pants. This fit is a loose-fitting trouser that is usually distinguished by the gathers it has around the waist area and the ankle. But this particular pant only had its gathers along the waistline and pours down in a straight line to the ankle, where it is delicately folded like a cuff, adding to the peculiarities of the attire. This part of the piece is finished off with a side zipper that helps the pants sit comfortably on the body. Overall, if this collection is meant to have a winner, it would certainly be this piece because of how flawlessly it was crafted and captured.
The designer, Lovely Nyoreme Obodozie, did a remarkable job with this collection. Her extensive knowledge of fashion trends and clothes is displayed immensely through the designs. From her careful selection of fabrics to the tremendous display of fashion skills in each piece, down to the dedication infused into accomplishing this eccentric ensemble, it is without doubt that she is headed in the right direction.
