Exclusive: What Rohr Told Osimhen Before Making Napoli Transfer

Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has revealed what he told Victor Osimhen before his switch to SS Napoli.

In an interview with Daily Times, Rohr said the former Lille attacker contacted him for advice and he told him what he must do before making such a switch.

Commenting on having a strong team of many good players, with no big names, Rohr said Osimhen may be the new star in the fold but needs to prove himself worthy of the tag.

“Even if we don’t have big stars like Jayjay Okocha, we still have to play. There’s Osimhen now but he has to prove himself,” Rohr said.

“I hope he will succeed at Napoli. Before he went there, he spoke with me about it and that he wanted my advice. And I advised him to see the coach, Gattuso and get his guarantees that he will play and not sit on the bench there. He did it and I’m happy about the transfer because it’s a big club and it’s a good opportunity in Italy to progress against strong defenders, and I hope he will score so many goals like he did in France.”
