Excitement as GSSS Abuja graduates 267

A total of 267 students, split into 174 male and 93 female, of Government Science Secondary School (GSSS), Maitama, graduated for the 2015/2016 academic session.
The visibly excited students were sent forth, being the first such ceremony since the school was moved from Pyakassa to Maitama in 2014.

Top officials of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Department of Science and Technology (under which the school is domiciled), parents and other guest speakers were on hand to witness the colourful ceremony.

In her remarks, the Director of the Department, Mrs. Rosemary Umana, congratulated the students on their wonderful performance and called on the graduands to be law-abiding, God-fearing and good ambassadors of the school.

While wishing them well, she prayed that the Good Lord will guide and help them excel in every area of their endeavours.

Principal of the school, MallamIsah .O. Usman, while commending the graduands, noted that their graduation is a culmination of years of hard work, the actualisation of goals sought and acknowledgement of successes achieved.

He urged them to put into practice all that they have learnt from the noble institution, be of good conduct, dedicated in further pursuit of higher goals and aspirations in order to make their alma mater proud.

Other guest speakers, stakeholders, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Chairman, former school Principal, Mrs. Christie Ibrahim, and parents/guardians, in their separate goodwill messages, called on the graduands to step out in grand style, be hardworking and God-fearing in order to maximise their success and bring positive change to society.
Other highlights of the ceremony include prizes and awards to outstanding graduands and teachers.
