A veteran journalist and former Chairman of the Editorial Board of The Vanguard, Alhaji Kola Muslim Animashaun dies at 80.
The celebrated ex-Vanguard columnist passed on in the early hours of Thursday, May 30, 2019.
According to the Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, Dr Qasim Akinreti, in a condolence message sent to the Vanguard chapel family and NUJ Lagos council, the devout Muslim was yesterday buried at the Markaz Mosque cemetery, Agege, in line with the Islamic tradition.
“With deep heart, I announced the death of our fathers in The Journalism profession, a first class Journalist, Columnist, trainer and mentor Alhaji Muslim Kola Animasaun.
“He died early morning today according to the Managing Editor Vanguard Newspapers, Uncle Gbenga Adefaye.
“I visited him at home yesterday night in company of two journalists. I held his hand and prayed for him. I am glad he lived a fulfilled life.
“My condolences to the entire Vanguard chapel family and NUJ Lagos council at large. We lost a rear gem in the industry.” He said
