Ex -military officer, Agbogun, 6,000 others dump APC for PDP in Delta

Ex- military officer, General Nick Agbogun, 6,000 others in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State on Tuesday dumped the All progressive Congress (APC) in the area for the People’s Democratic party (PDP) for what they attributed to the failure of the party, APC to fulfil its electioneering campaign promises to the people.

At Agbor Open Space ground where the defectors were received by the state Governor, Dr lfeanyi Okowa, the decampees in the midst of of Crowd of the PDP Supporters, alleged that APC lost touch with the people over its abysmal failure to meet the yearnings of the people, adding their decision to dump the party for PDP was informed by the abrasive nature of the party’s leadership.

The leader of the decampees,Gen Nick Agbogun (rtd) however tasked PDP members on unity and Cohesion within the party, adding that the unity of the party will be imperative for a winning driving force, and assured the party of his supports including that of the Six thousand other members who also decamped from APC to PDP.

But the state Governor Dr Ifeanyi Okowa in his remarks, assured the decampees of equal opportunities, promising that they will not regret their decision to join the PDP Family and restated his commitment towards developing the state in line with his Government policies and programmes.

The Governor said that in all Standards has nothing to Offer to Deltans and Nigerians, Stressing that his led administration will continue to do its best to provide the Basic infrastructure to the people of the state and urged the decampees to join hands with him to ensure successful administration.

He said,:”My administration is Sure of Coming back in 2019,APC has nothing to show on ground, it’s a work over for us because Deltans are ready to accept us back in 2019, so the decampees will be treated same like old members of the PDP Family, it’s the only Party in the state, others exist in nothing”

Meanwhile, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has called on the people criticizing him to do so constructively as the indices relevant in strengthening the political tenets as well as fostering the needed dividends of democracy in a given political setting.

The Governor who played host Over 22 opposition political parties in the state on Tuesday in Asaba, said” I want to thank you all for your immense Supports, what you have demonstrated indeed an indication that PDP is doing well in the state, and the essence of the Supports to attest to the good governance in the state”

According to Dr Ifeanyi Okowa,” we will continue to welcome and appreciate constructive criticisms because for us as a party, we believe Strongly that It is not good for us to be having weak Opposition political parties, it’s not good for our democracy, there is the need for strict Opposition because that way we will be firmer”.
